Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida Celebrates a Successful JA Inspire Career Expo in Charlotte County

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Feb. 5, 2025 – Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida brought the future into focus for more than 1,000 area students as part of its recent career expo, JA Inspire. This event occurred on January 21, 2025, in the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center and was hosted in partnership with the Charlotte County Government, Charlotte County School District, and FutureMakers Coalition.

The JA Inspire program aims to familiarize 8th-grade students with the workforce demands of our region's rapidly growing industries. More than 1,000 students from Charlotte County participated in the expo following a three-lesson curriculum delivered in classrooms. On the day of the event, students had the unique opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with representatives from 35 Southwest Florida employers, where they gained insights into the requirements to earn credentials, acquire real-world work experience, and ultimately secure employment.

In addition to the information shared, students engaged in unique hands-on activities with several employers to determine their level of interest and create a path for future success. This event was equally satisfying for students and employers, underscoring the importance of creating platforms for students to explore, learn, and connect with potential employers.

“JA Inspire is more than just a career expo; it's an immersive experience that allows our students to explore different industries and discover their interests. The hands-on activities and conversations with employers are invaluable. This first-time event, in partnership with Junior Achievement, Charlotte County Government, and FutureMakers Coalition, reinforces our belief that 'all means all' – every student deserves the chance to explore their potential and graduate with a coordinated plan for their future,” states Superintendent of Charlotte County Schools Mark Vianello.

“Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida and its esteemed partners express gratitude for the collaborative effort that made JA Inspire a resounding success for students and businesses alike,” said Angela Fisher, President and CEO of Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida. “This event exemplifies our commitment to providing valuable opportunities for all students, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and resources needed for future success in the workforce."
