Junior Achievement collecting school supplies for students impacted by Hurricane Ian

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Oct. 20, 2022)Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida (JA) is asking for donations of school supplies to help replenish items needed as Southwest Florida students and teachers impacted by Hurricane Ian return to class. Donations of brand-new items can be made at 13241 University Drive, Suite 102, in Fort Myers, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., now until Dec.1.

“Schools are reopening, and due to the damage at area schools and families’ homes, parents are concerned that children will have no supplies to go back to school with,” said Angela Fisher, president and CEO of JA. “There is a huge need for school supplies right now and Junior Achievement wants to help give these families one less thing to worry about as they recover from the storm. Every child deserves an education, and we are asking the community to help us provide the tools needed so they can focus on learning and keep moving forward.”

The supplies most in need include:

  • Basic School Supplies: Backpacks, pencils, composition notebooks, colored pencils, crayons, glue sticks, student scissors, markers, graph paper, filler paper, folders, construction paper, coloring books, and puzzles.
  • Classroom Needs: Kleenex tissues, dry-erase markers, printer paper, Clorox wipes, & hand sanitizer.
